Drifter deployment within the CALYPSO South project in the Central Mediterranean Basin

The time series consist of trajectory data and sea surface temperature collected by a number of drifters released in two different deployments between 2020 and 2021. The drifters, which were procured through the CALYPSO South project, were deployed within the southern approaches to the Maltese Islands and the data collected was used to validate the sea surface currents measured by the HF radar network installed within the same project. CALYPSO South was partly financed by the EU under the  Interreg Italia-Malta Programme 2014-2020.
