Erosion and morphodynamic changes of Majuli

Present study investigates the long-term dynamics of riverbank erosion in Majuli, India—the world’s largest inhabited fluvial river island—over a 38-year period from 1986 to 2024, assessed at decadal intervals. To achieve this, five Landsat time-series datasets (1986, 1996, 2006, 2016, and 2024) were analysed to quantify erosion impacts and compute bankline retreat rates using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS).本研究针对印度马久利岛（Majuli）——全球最大的有人居住的冲积河流岛——1986年至2024年共38年间的河岸侵蚀长期动态展开调查，以十年为间隔开展评估。为此，本研究分析了五期陆地卫星（Landsat）时序数据集（涵盖1986、1996、2006、2016及2024年），借助数字岸线分析系统（Digital Shoreline Analysis System，DSAS）量化侵蚀影响并计算岸线后退速率。
