Municipalities and Townships

Lucas County Municipalities (Cities and Villages) and Townships. Lucas County government is led by commissioners and provide general government and services. Townships provide government and services for areas not within a municipality. Municipalities are the most localized division of government. A municipality of less than 5,000 residents is a village while municipalities with 5,000 residents or more are cities. Cities and villages may span county and township lines. The Ohio Secretary of State maintains rosters of Ohio counties, cities, townships, and villages. The boundary lines presented here are maintained by the Lucas County Engineer's Tax Map Department, and hosted within the Auditor's GIS database. This conversion occurred from 1995 to 1998. It was rectified over a digital orthophoto base. This digital cadastral basemap will be the primary cadastral map for Lucas County, Ohio. The Lucas County Auditor's Office, Toledo, Ohio, uses the jurisdiction layer to delineate the political boundaries within Lucas County.
