The matrix of transfer functions of a linear array prototype was measured in the ISVR anechoic chamber under free-field conditions. The setup is as follows. The loudspeaker array, mounted on a turntable, and an omni-directional microphone were installed in the anechoic chamber and placed at a reciprocal distance 3 m. The elements of the transfer function matrix were estimated using the so-called H1 estimator from the recordings of the responses between each loudspeaker of the array and the microphone to a broadband signal (white noise) of 6 s duration. This procedure was repeated 37 times by rotating the turntable every 5 deg in counter-clockwise direction from 0 deg to 180 deg.
