The Latin American Revolts Database (LARD) (1830-2024)

The Latin American Revolts Database (LARD) uses primary and secondary sources to code all revolts in the region from 1830 to 2024. It defines a revolt as an instance of the use or the credible threat of violence to achieve political goals by an identifiable domestic political group that defies the authority of the state. We provide information on the start and end date of revolts, their location, severity, the objectives of the participants, whether they contribute to overthrowing the executive, their type based on the leaders' origins, as well as further variables on the participation of political parties, the military, and/or foreign powers.
