Atlas of employment areas

Created at the beginning of the 1980s, the employment zones not only allow statistical information to be returned (in particular localised unemployment rates and employment estimates from INSEE, but also to design territorial diagnostics to develop and implement policies territorialised. Indeed, built from home-to-work travel, employment areas constitute a division of the appropriate territory to study the actual functioning of the local labour market: location and characteristics productive apparatus, characteristics and location of labour supply and demand work... Their outlines, first defined in 1983-84 and partially revised in 1993— 94 having emerged in part obsolete due to changes in the factors determining the home-to-work migration, an update was undertaken in 2010 leading to new boundaries, which became effective on 1 July 2011: 322 employment areas, Dom (including Mayotte) included, have thus been defined.
