IMOS SOOP-XBT Upper Ocean Thermal Data collected on the line PX2 (across the Banda Sea)

Temperature data from the TOGA/WOCE transect PX2 across the Banda Sea (Flores Sea - Torres Strait) has been collected since 1983 and are ongoing. The transect is repeated approximately 12 times a year with profiles obtained approximately every 50-100 Km. \nThe data are obtained from XBTs (expendable bathythermographs) deployed vie marchant vessels, and are managed by the Joint Australian Facility for Ocean Observing Systems (JAFOOS), a collaborative venture between CSIRO Marine Research and the Bureau of Meteorology Research Centre (BMRC).

自1983年起，科研团队便启动了横跨班达海（弗洛勒斯海—托雷斯海峡）的TOGA/WOCE（热带海洋与全球大气计划/世界海洋环流实验）PX2断面的温度数据采集工作，该项目目前仍在持续推进中。该断面每年约开展12次重复观测，剖面数据的获取间距约为50至100千米。
本次数据集通过商用船舶部署的XBT（投弃式温深仪，expendable bathythermographs）获取，由澳大利亚海洋观测系统联合设施（JAFOOS, Joint Australian Facility for Ocean Observing Systems）负责管理，该设施是澳大利亚联邦科学与工业研究组织（CSIRO）海洋研究部与澳大利亚气象局研究中心（BMRC）合作共建的联合项目。
