The experiment was done at two locations at the York University Keele Campus. At first the experiment was done in the woodland, at Danby park. An area of interest of soil was to be slightly disturbed by foot and the quadrant was to be placed on that area. The area inside the quadrant was to be observed for the duration of one minute. The number and taxonomic name of the insects were then to be recorded. this process was repeated 9 more times for a total of 10 trials.
In the Woodland, the area of interest was to be disturbed by flattening grass. The quadrant was then layed, and the number and indentity of the insects were to be observed and recorded. This was done for a total of 10 trials.
