Epigenome analysis of anterior capsular membrane of lens in healthy and cataract patients

DNA methylation levels were analyzed by MethylationEPIC BeadChip (850K) in ARC patients and normal controls. Compared with the control group, a total of 52705 differentially methylated site (DMS) were detected in the ARC group, of which 13858 were hypermethylated and 38847 were hypomethylated. Our study revealed that the whole-genome DNA methylation patterns and gene expression profiles in ARC and identifified molecular markers of methylation may aid in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of ARC.
