The point layer (Schools_mainentrances_brussels_VUB_Z.shp) includes :
the location of almost all primary schools in the Brussels-Capital Region (n=408) ;
administrative data such as the school name, education level provided (pre-school/primary/secondary), school type (public/charter/private), language community (french or dutch speaking...) ;
socio-economic data on the enrolled students' household (e.g., income or education level of parents) ;
involvement in (schoolyard) greening projects ;
environmental indicators such as the percentage of vegetation cover in the schoolyard or in the school surroundings (e.g., street trees, accessible public green spaces, vegetation cover in 300m buffer) ;
and others.
The polygon layer (Schoolyards_brussels_VUB_Z.shp) includes:
the schoolyard boundaries of almost all primary schools in the Brussels-Capital Region (n=408) - obtained by removing the buildings from the schools cadaster parcels based on data from UrbIS-P&B (Paradigm, 2015b) ;
the schoolyard surface (in m2) ;
the school names and ID numbers.
