Effects of maternal high-fat diet during pregnancy and lactation on gene expression in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus of adolescent rat offspring.

In this project gene expression was analyzed in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus of rat offspring at 28 postnatal day (both male and female groups) following i) maternal standard diet (control diet; 10% metabolized energy from fat) or ii) maternal high-fat diet (60% metabolized energy from fat; 35% crude fat) during pregnancy (21 days) and lactation (21 days) using mRNA sequencing. After weaning, offspring at postnatal day 22 were switched to a control diet.
