Energy subsurface

This map contains 1 line, separating north and south of Zeeland. The border lies near the Oosterschelde. For both geothermal and gas extraction (Schaliegas, ECBM) there is (globally) north of the Oosterschelde potential in the deep subsurface for these techniques. South of this line, the potential is nil. This has everything to do with geology (composition and origin of existing Layer Packages). Potential means that in theory there are possibilities for the development of these techniques, but that is accompanied by many uncertainties. These uncertainties are greater than in other parts of the Netherlands. This is because in the past, due to the absence of oil and gas, little research has been done by the oil and gas industry in Zeeland. There is therefore little information about the deep subsurface available.
For concrete projects to be developed, additional and in-depth studies are needed.
