Porites sp 16S rRNA V4 Raw sequence reads. coral metagenome

Formulating customized probiotics that provide an alternative solution to sustain coral health under climate change is essential. The microbiome response of coral Porites sp. was assessed in a heat-stress experiment and when applying an assembled consortium composed of bacteria native to urban coral M. auretenra and exhibiting antioxidant and antagonistic properties. Acclimatized fragments of Porites sp. corals were subjected to a heat stress regime (30-31 Celsius) for 11 days; then, the temperature was re-established (24 Celsius) and fragments were allowed to recover for 20 days. Corals were simultaneously treated with the consortium and placebo (sterile saline solution) in independent triplicated treatments. Microbiome data was recovered using 16S rRNA V4 amplicon sequencing approach and through the Illumina MiSeq platform. A total of 101,667 reads were obtained from eight samples with a sequencing depth ranging from 9,478 to 19,156 reads per sample.
