This project is looking at the aerodynamic effects of wind loads on roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) systems. Time histories of pressure and force coefficient data can be used to inform Finite Element Modeling of PV arrays to determine their behavior under the action of wind loads. Risk modelers can also benefit from the data to develop fragility models. This project presents a combined experimental-analytical approach, validated by field measurements, to investigate peak wind loads on rooftop PV arrays considering wind-induced dynamic effects. The primary audiences are researchers and scientists in the field of structural wind engineering, as well as risk modelers.
