Cen X-4 discovered in 1969 during an outburst is at a distance of 1.2 kpc the closest neutron star low-mass X-ray binary. This X-ray transient has recently been reported - first in optical (ATels 14254 14320) then in X-rays (Swift and NICER ATel 14303) to be significantly brightening which strongly suggests the source is going into its third outburst after more than 41 years in quiescence. We propose a Target of Opportunity monitoring of what may well be a once-in-a-lifetime event. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
