THCHS30 is an open Chinese speech database released by the Center for Speech and Language Technology (CSLT) at Tsinghua University. The original recordings were conducted in 2002 by Dong Wang under the supervision of Professor Xiaoyan Zhu at the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Systems, Department of Computer Science, Tsinghua University. The original name of the dataset was "TCMSD", which stands for "Tsinghua Continuous Mandarin Speech Database". This dataset was officially published 13 years later, initiated by Dr. Dong Wang and supported by Professor Xiaoyan Zhu. The aim is to provide a beginner-friendly toy database for new researchers in the field of speech recognition.
