Twelve 6-week-old male C57BL/6 mice were used. Six mice were subjected to unilateral anterior crossbite to induce temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA), while the other six served as the control group. After 4 weeks, three mice from each group were sacrificed, and condylar cartilage tissues were isolated. Total RNA was extracted for small RNA sequencing to screen differentially expressed tsRNAs and investigate whether tsRNAs are involved in TMJOA progression.
