Understanding and Influencing End-User Behavior in Software Energy Consumption : Campus-wide survey

The .csv file contains responses from a campus-wide survey designed to investigate end-users’ perspectives on software energy consumption. The dataset includes demographic information (age, gender, socio-professional category, education level, and role) and measures of environmental attitudes based on the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP). It also captures participants’ familiarity with technology, including self-reported screen time. The core section of the dataset consists of responses to 16 Likert-scale statements grouped under three constructs: perception (awareness of software energy consumption), comprehension (understanding of its causes and variability), and actions (behavioral responses to reduce consumption). Additionally, the file includes results from two ranking tasks assessing users’ opinions on the impact of hardware, software choices, and usage patterns. Supplementary data from five anonymized semi-structured interviews provide qualitative insights into participants’ perspectives, reinforcing survey findings.
