<b>The optimal sugar components provide essential cues for the formation of host-specialized cotton-melon aphids</b>

The cotton-melon aphid (<i>Aphis gossypii</i> Glover) is a worldwide agricultural pest with a variety of biotypes, causing a high level of economic loss. Cucurbitaceae biotype (CA) and Malvaceae biotype (MA) are two prevalent host-specialized biotypes of cotton-melon aphids in many countries, including China. We further addressed the role of plant nutritional status, especially sugar metabolism, in the formation of host-specialized biotypes in cotton-melon aphids.
