Government budget balance in Egypt 2016-2023

As of the first half of 2022/2023, the government deficit was close to 450 billion Egyptian pounds (1.29 billion U.S. dollars) Furthermore, the government deficit was roughly 487 billion Egyptian pounds (15.76 billion U.S. dollars) as of 2021/2022. This was higher than the value for FY2020/2021, which amounted to nearly 470 billion Egyptian pounds (15.21 billion U.S. dollars). During the period under review, revenues generated by the government were lower than government spending, which led to a fiscal deficit.
