The relative importance of innate immune priming in Wolbachia-mediated dengue interference

Wolbachia is a vertically transmitted intracellular bacterium that infects more than 60% of insect species. However, it does not naturally infect Aedes aegypti. The Wolbachia strains wMelPop and wMel were introduced into laboratory strains of Aedes aegypti; mosquitoes and gene expression was compared between these Wolbachia infected strains and their tetracyclin antibiotic cleared counterparts.
