FESOM2 mesh with a resolution that gradually increases toward the poles, mimicking Mercator meshes. The resolution at the equator is 20 km, with a maximum resolution of 8 km. The resolution is also increased in major straits (Baltic: 6 km, Red Sea: 10 km, Nares Strait: 8 km, Gibraltar: 6 km).
