Six detrital charcoal samples and a single bulk soil sample were recovered from
paleoseismic trenches at Corral Creek in Kern County, California, and examined to recover
charred material suitable for AMS radiocarbon dating. Charcoal from six of the samples was
identified and dated. One of the detrital charcoal samples yielded insufficient quantities of
macroscopic charcoal; therefore, the sample was processed to recover microcharcoal for
dating.
