EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL/DETRITAL CHARCOAL AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF MATERIAL FROM PALEOSEISMIC TRENCHES AT CORRAL CREEK, CALIFORNIA

Six detrital charcoal samples and a single bulk soil sample were recovered from paleoseismic trenches at Corral Creek in Kern County, California, and examined to recover charred material suitable for AMS radiocarbon dating. Charcoal from six of the samples was identified and dated. One of the detrital charcoal samples yielded insufficient quantities of macroscopic charcoal; therefore, the sample was processed to recover microcharcoal for dating.从美国加利福尼亚州克恩县科拉尔溪的古地震探槽中采集得到6份碎屑炭样品与1份块状土壤样品（bulk soil sample），随后对所有样品进行处理以提取适用于加速器质谱（AMS）放射性碳定年的炭质材料。其中6份样品的炭屑已完成鉴定与定年分析。有1份碎屑炭样品的宏观炭屑含量不足，因此针对该样品开展处理以提取微炭屑用于定年。
