Omega wind-finding capabilities: Wallops Island experiments

资源简介:
A comparison is made of wind velocities derived from simultaneous Omega and high-precision radar tracking at Wallops Island, Va., during December 1972. Based on data from nine flights, Omega wind measurement error estimates are 1.4, 0.9, and 0.6 m/s for 1-, 2-, and 4-min averages, respectively, for either the u (positive east) or v (positive north) component. These results are believed typical for the location, season, and prevailing Omega transmitter power. Extrapolation to other locations and seasons is not described in this report.
