Microbiome-based clinical pathogen detection in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid using Illumina short-read and Nanopore long-read sequencing

In this study 106 bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples were collected and extracted using an automated platform. Bacterial microbiome profiles were generated through short-read sequencing of the V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene using Illumina technologies and through long-read sequencing with Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT).
