Viruses are abundant in nature, yet the diversity of CRESS-DNA viruses in wild mammals remains largely unexplored. By examining fecal samples from Tibetan wild asses on the Hoh Xil Plateau, we identified novel lineages of these viruses. This advances our understanding of viral evolution in high-altitude wildlife and emphasizes the importance of studying underexplored hosts.
