资源简介:
3 images. Rare insect, 21 August 1951. William J. Kamp -- 21 years (who discovered rare insect).; Supplementary material reads: "Chernus. For Monday. Caption: 2 negatives: William J. Kamp, 21 years old Chico State College entomology student of Long Beacg who has discovered a very rare insect believed to be a carry over from the ice age -- Genius Grylloblattedae. It was found by Kamp in the ice caves at Eagle Lake, Lassen National Forrest(?). 'Gryllo' as Kamp calls the insect, lives on the ice, and is believed to be the prehistoric ancestor of the modern cockroach and grasshopper. Its mouth parts are primitive -- no sucker or 'biter' like up-to-date pests. The National Museum in Washington has asked Kamp for a specimen to place in its collection".
