Design and implementation of epidemiological surveillance systems

In order to prevent and control diseases, epidemiological surveillance systems should furnish information to support the planning, implementation and evaluation of public health practices. The purpose of this comparison is to review epidemiological surveillance systems in order to determine the process, the methods, the architectures and the tools generally used for its design and implementation. From each paper, we extracted all important codes that can be used to identify these elements. In some papers, the authors present one system and his drawbacks (e.g. manual management) and present their contribution (software management) as the solution to these drawbacks. For these papers, two comparisons are created. One to describe the first system (manual management) and another one to present the contribution (software management) of the authors. For the papers in which the approach used to develop the software is not presented, we went on the Internet, searched for it and if it is found, we fill the blank space.
