Progression of microbiota in cerebrospinal fluid associated with shunt infection

Whole genome amplification followed by shotgun sequencing was applied to DNA extracted from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of pediatric patients at two time points: An early time point at which a shunt revision surgery was performed; A late time point, when the patient had developed a shunt infection.
