Measurements of carbon dioxide made during the AMT-6 research cruise as part of the Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) between South Africa and the UK during May and June in 1998

This metadata entry refers to measurements of carbon dioxide made by Carol Robinson during the AMT 6 research cruise in the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Atlantic Meridional Transect project. AMT-6 left Cape Town on May 14th 1998 and arrived in Grimsby on June 15th. The ship track from Cape Town to the equator followed a track just offshore of South Africa, Namibia and Angola with the intention of working within the Benguela upwelling. From the coast of southern Angola, the track passed through the Gulf of Guinea to join the standard AMT track at about 10N. The principal scientist was Jim Aiken from PML. The data consists of 258 measurements of the concentration of carbon (total inorganic) (TCO2) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by coulometry.
