On November 2018, the first field activity of the project took place in Sicily, with the participation of Claudia Speciale, Bruno Vila and Ambre DiPascale. Aims of the Sicilian mission were: - Sampling of the reed populations close to rivers and coastal areas of Central Sicily (where there is also the village of Case Bastione) and Western Sicily to enlarge morphological and DNA database - Check presence and distribution of Arundo on the island - Check the presence of Arundo micrantha (from the Iron Age and the arrival of the Phoenicians) on the Western part of the island<br />

Observing strategy: <br />
Selected sites of Central and Western Sicily where populations of reeds were found. Collection of 20 individuals per each population to perform analogic measurements.
