This dataset integrates gravimetric and FTIR-ATR spectroscopy measurements used in the publication Rybka K., Kuligiewicz A., Kaufhold S., Dohrmann R., Derkowski A. (2025) Kinetics of rehydration in smectite and its application to water resorption in bentonites. Applied Clay Science, 271, 107813. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.clay.2025.107813. The data were generated to investigate the rehydration behavior of homoionic smectites and natural bentonites following controlled dehydration. Gravimetric data were collected to track water resorption kinetics under varying temperatures. FTIR spectroscopy was employed to assess changes in layer charge via D₂O vibrational probing, offering insight into structural modifications during rehydration.
