Cyprinus carpio red skin transcriptome

Common carp(Cyprinus carpio), is one of the world widely cultured and important freshwater fish in the world. Numerous strains or variants of common carp which have diverse colors and coloration patterns had been built after a long history of artificial selection from the wild original populations. But the molecular mechanisms underlying these diverse color pattern in common carp remain less well-understood. Cryprinus carpiod, a unique varient of common carp, which has several body colors and coloration patterns consistently exits, such as red, white, orange, or black body color. It provides an excellent model to study the molecular mechanisms of pigment formation and development.
