Geomorphological units of the Upper Garonne Valley, Pyrenees
收藏资源简介:
We present the geomorphological units of the upper Garonne Valley (Pyrenees) that includes the spatial distribution of 44 groups of landforms based on their genesis: 1 – glacial, 2 – periglacial, 3 – slope, 4 – alluvial, 5 – fluvial, 6 – nival, 7 – karst, and 8 – hydrology. The data includes landforms formed during Quaternary glaciations to present-day. The map covers an area of 553 km2, from the mountaintops to the valley bottoms drained by the Garonne River. The resulting geomorphological units can be used either for the promotion of geoheritage and geoconservation, as well as for spatial planning in areas susceptible to be affected by natural hazards. The map was produced on ArcGIS 10.7.1 (ESRI) based on the orthophotomaps (0.25 m resolution) and LIDAR digital elevation models (density points of 0.5-2 m2). Furthermore, the vectorization of the features used lines, points, and polygons. Data validation was carried through multiple field work campaigns, namely during the summers in 2015, 2019 and 2020.
