Porichthys notatus Preoptic Area-Anterior Hypothalamus Transcriptome. Porichthys notatus

We examined differences in transcript expression in the preoptic area-anterior hypothalamus of the plainfin midshipman fish during spawning. The midshipman has two alternative male morphs, one of which has flexible reproductive tactics (courtship or cuckoldry), while the other has fixed tactics (cuckoldry only). Our goal was to observe expression differences during spawning in order to identify transcripts related either morph identity, or behavioral tactic in order to find candidate transcripts involved in reproductive behavior plasticity.
