RNA-seq of cashew

Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) is an evergreen plant, a member of Anacardiaceae family consisting of numerous tropical fruiting trees like mango. In many East African countries as well as Brazil, cashew is severely affected by powdery mildew (Pseudoidium anacardii) resulting significant yield losses. We used RNA-Seq transcriptome sequencing of eighteen infected and non-infected controls samples of immature cashew apples from three genotypes with different phenotypic sensitivity to powdery mildew, to investigate molecular markers for tolerance/resistance to the disease.
