National Exposure Information System (NEXIS) Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced (VACP) - Statistical Area Level 1 (SA1)

NEXIS-VACP2011 integrates the Australian Bureau of Statistics' (ABS) Total Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced (VACP) by SA1 gross value estimates: Year Ending 30 June 2011, applied to cadastral parcels in areas identified as suitable for agricultural production. The purpose of the data is to provide agricultural exposure information at a finer resolution, the cadastral parcel level, as an aid to decision making.

The value estimates are derived by the multiplication of price and quantity estimates of agricultural commodities.

Price information refers to the average unit value of a given commodity realised in the market place. Price information for livestock slaughterings and wool is obtained from Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) collections. Price information for other commodities is obtained from non-ABS sources, including marketing authorities and industry sources.

NEXIS-VACP2011 is underlined by a bespoke land use classification method which enables the VACP data to be applied only against land classified as 'Agricultural'.

This product is a Statistical Area Level 1 (SA1) aggregated version of NEXIS VACP 2011.
