New alleles of Arabidopsis BIK1 reinforce its predominant role in pattern-triggered immunity and caution interpretations of other reported functions

The receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase BIK1 and its close homolog PBL1 have been regarded as central components in plant immunity. However, the majority of relevant studies were carried out with limited number of T-DNA insertional mutants. Some of the phenotypes associated with these mutants were not explained by the assumed role of BIK1 and PBL1 in immunity. So we sequenced them.
