The project relates to a ciliate inhabiting the freshwater sediments of the Dordogne River in France. This single-celled eukaryote lives in symbiosis with four endosymbiotic bacteria. An environmental cell was micromanipulated and the holobiont DNA was amplified then sequenced using a combination of Illumina and Nanopore technologies. A draft genome for each endosymbiont was then assembled.
