Spring discharge data used in "Trend analysis of Alpine spring discharge: interplay between climate and discharge characteristics"

This dataset contains daily spring discharge data accompanying the manuscript "Trend analysis of Alpine spring discharge: interplay between climate and discharge characteristics", accepted in Science of the Total Environment. The dataset covers the period from 1 January 1996 to 31 December 2022, and includes time series used for hydrological trend analysis in the above-mentioned manuscript. To address missing values and ensure data completeness, gaps were filled using convolutional neural network (CNN) models, based on approaches similar to those described in: Wunsch, A., Liesch, T., Cinkus, G., Ravbar, N., Chen, Z., Mazzilli, N., Jourde, H., & Goldscheider, N. The gap-filled time series are provided in CSV format. The original discharge data were downloaded from the eHYD platform of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (Bundesministerium für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Klima- und Umweltschutz, Regionen und Wasserwirtschaft, BMLUK). The data are publicly available for non-commercial scientific use. This dataset republishes the data in processed form (gap-filled), and users are encouraged to consult the original source for official and up-to-date hydrological records: https://ehyd.gv.at.
