The aim of this study was to characterize the lung and intestinal (duodenum, ileum and cecum) microbiome of aged Golden Syrian Hamsters challenged with SARS-CoV-2. Further, a group of similarly aged GSHs were pre-exposed to influenza A virus to determine whether the outcomes of SARS2 disease would be influenced by a previous respiratory exposure.
