This research embarks on a metagenomic survey in order to ascertain microbial taxonomic groups and functional characteristics of a metagenome from the Manleluag hyperalkaline spring. The metagenomic dataset was generated from Illumina technology and it will be mined for microbial genes that can be exploited for the tannery industry., particularly keratinase encoding genes.
