Soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 50 000 — Soil History of Humidity — Spring Number (1991-2020)

The map shows the spring number of soil history moisture levels for the 30-year period 1991-2020. The Soil Clinical Humidity Level (BKF) allows a statement about the humidity situation of sites. It provides information about the possible agricultural use and restrictions of use due to drought or humidity. The BKF takes into account soil, hydrological, morphological and climatic characteristics. For the assessment of the humidity situation, 12 humidity levels (from dry to wet) are distinguished. Depending on the soil type, separate values are also determined according to the season (spring/summer number, e.g. 6/2). Differences between spring and summer numbers can occur, for example, in soils affected by jawwater, which are significantly moist in spring than in summer. The spring number describes the humidity status of a site, in the case of soils affected by jawwater, the condition in the spring months when reservoir water occurs.
