How does dispersal over barriers contribute to diversification?

Dispersal is a fundamental process for maintaining biodiversity, and long-distance dispersal has attracted the interest of many researchers owing to its unusual characteristics. However, the importance and the generality of long-distance dispersal is unclear on diversification of organisms. Thus, this project will clarify the role of long-distance dispersal on diversification using freshwater snails, which have low active dispersal ability.
