Sargassum Data

This study examines Florida coastal residents' preferences for sargassum beach cleanup strategies using a discrete choice experiment conducted with 541 respondents in Spring 2024. Participants evaluated cleanup alternatives varying by method (in-water, mechanized, manual), disposal approach (on-site burial, off-site removal), frequency, worker safety protocols, and annual contribution amount. A between-subjects design tested whether providing information about environmental sustainability implications influenced preferences. The dataset includes choice experiment responses, treatment assignment, respondent demographics, beach visitation patterns, and prior sargassum exposure.
