Commodity & energy price benchmarks

General Index (GX) is a commodity benchmark provider based on data not journalism. GX's daily energy prices are calculated algorithmically using detailed methodologies from thousands of trades collated from 190+ data partners, meaning they are robust, consistent and compliant with IOSCO and FCA requirements.

GX produces over 4,000 daily prices in crude oil, refined products, biofuels, SAF, hydrogen and carbon markets.

Market-leaders such as Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Oxy, BASF, Rio Tinto, Wood Mackenzie, Bloomberg, Man Group, Two Sigma, Man Group and ADNOC use our benchmarks for analysis and trading.

ICE has also listed six futures contracts settled on our benchmarks.

Our physical indexes include:

- **Crude oil** (e.g. Dated Brent, ICE Midland WTI (HOU))
- **Refined products** (e.g. gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, gasoil, fuel oil and naptha)
- **LPG** (e.g. spot and swap prices for propane, butane and naphtha)
- **Marine Fuels** (over 750 end-of-day spot prices across 500+ global ports)
- **Hydrogen** (costs of production for grey, blue and electrolysis)
- **Voluntary carbon markets** (carbon credit 'price baskets' based on more than 50% of market trades, in partnership with BeZero)
- **Marine carbon** (40 price indexes to monitor vessels’ CO2 emissions, covering main freight routes in/out of Europe)
- **Marine / bunker fuels** (750+global bunker prices)
- **Biofuels** (200+ biodiesel and renewable diesel spot prices and cost-based indexes across Europe, Asia and the US)

- **Sustainable Aviation Fuel** (SAF - spot market values and cost-based indexes)
- **Tank storage** (40 assessments across 10 energy hubs)
