The reaction of dibenzothiophene (DBT) with [Ru3(CO)12] in heptane affords the dinuclear complex [Ru2(C12H8)(μ-CO)(CO)5], derived from a double C−S bond activation−desulfurization process. The reaction of this complex with H2 under very mild conditions leads to the release of biphenyl.
