Marine sponges are well known for the complexity and specificity of their microbiomes, yet the importance of these microbial symbionts in sponge resilience to acute environmental stress remains underexplored. In this study, we examined how artificially induced microbial changes affect the thermal stress response of the temperate calcareous sponge <i>Rowella lancifera</i> during simulated marine heatwave (MHW) conditions. Here, we have deposited all data and code used in the analysis we carried out during this study.
