This dataset (CAIS) provides annual impervious surface distribution information at 10-meter resolution across China's terrestrial area from 2016 to 2022, reflecting the spatio-temporal evolution pattern of impervious surfaces in China in recent years. Impervious surfaces mainly refer to artificial surfaces paved with construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, and masonry, including urban building roofs, roads, squares, rural settlements, etc. They are a direct manifestation of human activity intensity and a key indicator for measuring urbanization progress. The expansion of impervious surfaces has profoundly altered the original natural land cover, exerting significant impacts on regional hydrological cycles, urban heat island effects, biodiversity, and ecological environment quality. This dataset not only includes the basic stock data for 2016, but also comprehensively records the annual newly increased expansion information from 2017 to 2022, accurately depicting the details of artificial construction land in various geographical units, ranging from eastern coastal urban agglomerations to oases in western arid regions, and from urban centers to rural settlements. This dataset effectively reveals the differences in urbanization development and expansion characteristics across different regions of China, providing a high-precision data foundation for territorial spatial planning, urban sustainable development assessment, human-land relationship research, and ecological environment monitoring.
